【摘要】:1.1Theelectronicconepenetrometertestoftenisusedtodeterminesubsurfacestratigraphyforgeotechnicalandenvironmentalsitecharacterizationpurposes(1).ThegeotechnicalapplicationoftheelectronicconepenetrometertestisdiscussedindetailinTestMethodD5778,however,theuseoftheelectronicconepenetrometertestinenvironmentalsitecharacterizationapplicationsinvolvesfurtherconsiderationsthatarenotdiscussed.1.2Thepurposeofthisguideistodiscussaspectsoftheelectronicconepenetrometertestthatneedtobeconsideredwhenperformingtestsforenvironmentalsitecharacterizationpurposes.1.3Theelectronicconepenetrometertestforenvironmentalsitecharacterizationprojectsoftenrequiressteamcleaningthepushrodsandgroutingthehole.Therearenumerouswaysofcleaningandgroutingdependingonthescopeoftheproject,localregulations,andcorporatepreferences.Itisbeyondthescopeofthisguidetodiscussallofthesemethodsindetail.AdetailedexplanationofgroutingproceduresisdiscussedinGuideD6001.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.5Thisguideisapplicableonlyatsiteswherechemical(organicandinorganic)wastesareaconcernandisnotintendedforuseatradioactiveormixed(chemicalandradioactive)wastesites.1.6ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Withinthetext,theinch-poundunitsareshowninbrackets.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotequivalents,therefore,eachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.
