【摘要】:Wireropetestsaregenerallytobeperformedonnewrope.Theuseofwireropeinanyapplicationcanreduceindividualwirestrengthsduetoabrasionandnickingthatwillresultinthewireropestrengthbeingreduced.Damagetotheouterwireswillalsolowerthemaximumstrengthachievedduringtensiontesting.Themodulusofelasticityofwireropeisnotconsideredtobeastandardrequirementatthistime.Thedeterminationofthismaterialpropertyrequiresspecializedequipmentandtechniques.Ropetobetestedshouldbethoroughlyexaminedtoverifythatnoexternalwiredamageispresent.Ifpresent,itshouldbenoted.Whenpossible,anewundamagedsampleshouldbeobtainedfortesting.Endattachmentsandtheirinstallationcandirectlyaffectbreakingforceachievedduringtesting.Anyattachmentthatcanbeusedtodirectlyachievetherequiredropebreakingforcecanbeused.Standardtestingwithapouredsocket,usingzinc,whitemetalorthermosetresin,hasbeenconsideredthemostefficient.Proficiencyinattachmentofanyfittingcanhaveadirecteffectonthefinaltestresults.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthetensiontestingofwireropesandstrandatroomtemperature,specificallytodeterminethemeasuredbreakingforce,yieldstrength,elongation,andmodulusofelasticity.Methodsdescribedinthisstandardarenotintendedforotherpurposes.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninNote1andNote2.
